In order to start building your site, there are certain things that we need from you.
Domain Name
Have a few options ready when it comes to domain names as most of the good names are already registered. Try to keep the domain name as short as possible, ideally no more than two syllables. You may not have this choice if you are using your own name or an established band name but we need to keep it as search engine friendly as possible. Also decide which TLDs you want, i.e. .com, .co.uk, .org, etc.
Choose The Look
Where possible we need you to provide details of your corporate colours or give an idea of the colour scheme that you would like to use. We strongly recommend this site for choosing colour schemes - http://kuler.adobe.com.
Site Content
Although you will be filling in most of the content yourself over time, we need to know which pages you want and what order you want them in. You own site will have it's own requirements but pages we are often asked to include are:
home | about | news (blog format) | store | gallery | contact | links
You also have the option of adding the following modules:
- search: for searching through articles when your site content grows.
- online: showing how many guests and users are online at any time.
- rss feed: interested visitors can opt in so that they are notified and can read your content in their own news reader each time you add an article.
- newsflash: displays a news headline at the top of the page.
- popular: shows a list of the top 5 most read news items on your site.
- newsletter: you can display a form on your site allowing people to sign up to your newsletter, which can be managed from your admin panel.
- menus: your content can be divided around multiple menus (this site shows an example, i.e. main menu, joomla blog, other offers.
Each of these pages can be named however you like to fit with your own company theme, i.e. 'gallery' could be named 'piccies'.
As more modules become available, we will add them here and also inform you in our newsletter so that you have the option of adding them to your site.
